McClurg Tops the Field at Conesus

Wade McCurg beat out 26 other anglers, on a day deemed “tough” by many of the field, to win the opening Southern Tier Bassmasters point’s tournament by a little more than 2 ½ pounds over second place finisher Brad Brodnicki.

McClurg’s 5 fish limit weighed in at 15.71 pounds and earned him $301.50 and the initial lead in the 2010 Angler of the Year competition. Brodnicki’s limit weighed 13.13 pounds and was worth $184.25.

Third place and $176.38 went to Kevin Kuhn with 12.97 pounds. Kuhn’s limit also contained a 4.57 pound largemouth that tied for lunker of the tournament. Charlie Prince completed the top 4 with his 12.74 pound limit. He took home $75.38. John Siejak recorded the other 4.57 pound fish also for the other half of the lunker prize of $67.50.

All told 115 fish were caught by 27 anglers and 114 were released back alive. Total weight for the tournament was 241.19 pounds.

The next point’s tournament will be on Lake Erie July 10th. The Russ Louk Open will be held this Saturday July 3rd on Conesus Lake. Hope to see you all there.
