Siejak Wins on Lower River

With a forecast best suited for a quiet day at home in front of the TV watching fishing shows 18 Southern Tier Bassmasters challenged the elements on Saturday September 4, 2010 to fish the club’s last point’s tournament.

With winds to 30 knots and 6-9 foot waves predicted for Lake Ontario the group was restricted to the river only. As it turned out only 50% (9) of the field could manage a limit for the day. Leading the way was John Siejak’s 14.20 pound limit. His limit also contained the tournament

lunker, a 4.64 pound smallmouth. He collected $302.50 in winnings for the day.

Finishing in second place was Joe Abt with a limit weighing 11.86 pounds worth $123.75. Wade McClurg secured his second AOY title finishing third with 11.53 pounds earning him $73.13. Fourth place and $50.63 went to Ted Barth for his 11.38 pound limit.

All fish caught and brought to the scales were smallmouth bass. All were alive and released back to the river.

Southern Tier has two open tournaments remaining for the 2010 season. October 2nd on Honeoye Lake and October 16th on Conesus Lake.
