It took 8 years
in coming but someone finally did it. What you ask? Probably
the next hardest thing to accomplish besides being repeat
Super Bowl Champs, repeat as Southern Tier Bassmaster Angler
of the Year.
On a rainy, miserable day,
September 2, 2006, at Sodus Bay history was made. Noel
Good
became the first member to
win the coveted club AOY award for a second time. To make
it even more impressive he did it in back-to-back years.
It all began June 24, 2006
at the opening tournament on a tough Cayuga Lake. Noel found
bedded smallies and fooled 5 of them weighing 14.81 pounds
to finish second. Over the rest of the season he put two thirds
and a ninth place together to amass 46.96 pounds and 387 points.
Both the points and the final weight were fourth highest over
the last 8 years. Noel still holds the highest points at 394
and total weigh of 54.63, both set in 2005.
No club member would argue
the point that winning the AOY is as tough an accomplishment
as there is within STBM. To do it twice is in incredible.
To do it back-to-back is nearly impossible. The bar has just
been raised by a very gifted fisherman. Congratulation Noel
on an award well deserved. |
