The regular monthly meeting was held on January 9, 2008, at Perkins Family Restaurant in Olean, NY.

BANQUET DATE CHANGED!!!

Due to a scheduling conflict, the date for this year’s banquet has been changed to Saturday, February 9, at the Old Library restaurant in Olean. The dinner will start at a new time: 6:00 PM. In addition, there will be no “walk-ins” at the door. Everyone must pre-register in advance so that we can have an accurate seating count and start on time. Reservation forms are available on the website.

Junior Club News

The juniors will hold their second annual breakfast fund raiser at Applebee’s in Olean on March 8 from 8–11 AM. Later that day, they will sponsor a Casting Kids competition at the Olean Center Mall from Noon to 3 PM.

The juniors announced that starting this year, all Boating Trail tournaments will run from 6:30 AM – 12:30 PM.

There are 14 paid members in the Junior Club.

MEETING SCHEDULE CHANGED!!!

As a result of declining attendance at regular monthly meetings the Executive Committee recommended that we reduce our monthly meetings. After a vote at the regular January meeting, the following was approved: effect immediately, regular monthly meetings will take place in months of January, March, June, September, November and December.

Tournament News

Tournament Director Tom Spencer reported that all tournament permits are in the works with dates confirmed. The only two outstanding contacts are Small Boat Harbor and Union Springs.

Members are reminded that tournament entry forms for all STBM tournaments are available on our website. Also, entry forms must be received at our post office box by 5:00 PM on the Tuesday before a tournament to be accepted.

Other News

The NY Federation will be holding it's winter meeting on January 19 in Syracuse and STBM will have a representative at the meeting. Several changes for 2008 tournament format and rules will be discussed. Please check our STBM December minutes or the NYSBCF website for the issues that will be voted upon.

STBM has a membership cap of 40 members and the Senior Club presently has 32 paid members, leaving eight openings for 2008. Anyone interested in joining should check out the details on our website. Applications are available on the website and are voted upon at regular monthly meetings. They are prioritized in the order they are received so don’t wait!

The next meeting will be held at the Olean Perkins Restaurant on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at 7 PM.
