November 2009

The regular monthly meeting was held on November 11, 2009, at Perkins Family Restaurant in Olean, NY.

2010 Tournament Sites Drawn

The tournament waters for 2010 were drawn at random in the following order: Conesus, Lake Erie, the Upper Niagara River and the Lower Niagara River. Dates will be announced when the tournament committee meets before the December meeting. However, as is custom, the tourneys will be held in the order they were drawn. Chautauqua Lake was drawn for the two-day 2010 Club Classic.

Outgoing tournament director Tom Spencer raised a concern from the Conesus Open tournament when some boaters were observed not wearing their pfd’s when loading their boats. Tom indicated that our insurance covers us through the payout process and not wearing a pfd during loading places the club in a liable position. He would like our tournament committee to consider adding this requirement to the rules.

Junior Club News

Several 2010 state-level junior tournaments were announced: NY State Club Team Championship on August 28, the Junior World Qualifier on July 31 and the Junior Partners Tournament on August 1.

Junior officer nominations were made: President – Zach Laventure and Caswell Stanton, Vice-President –Keith Dickerson; Secretary – A.J. Stanton; Treasurer –Clinton Shuh and Colton Gotchall. Voting will take place in December

The juniors wished to thank the Whitetail Country Store for the donated Matthews bow. A raffle for the bow and a rod/reel combo at the Olean Sportsman’s Show in September netted the juniors a profit of $867.

The juniors are planning an environmental project for the spring of 2010.

2010 Club Dues Are Due

Club dues for the 2010 season must be paid by the December meeting. Dues are $55 and should be accompanied by a properly-completed application (available on our website). Also, NY State Federation dues ($20) can be paid at the same time – with a completed application. .

Miscellaneous:

Sponsors are needed for the 2010 season. Members are encouraged to make contacts with business they know in hope that we can secure a few sponsors. Tournament sponsorships can be either for $100 or $200. See any club officer for our sponsorship brochure. Remember, all sponsorship money goes directly into our tournament payout pots.
The annual STBM banquet is set for Saturday, February 6 at the Old Library restaurant in Olean. Reservation forms and the menu will be posted on our website in December and reservations are required if you plan on attending.
